A Seaside Love Story in County Wexford
A local love story by the sea. Who could even dream of a sunny day like this in November? Brid & Chris are both from the Hook Peninsula are of County Wexford, Templestown to be exact. Both families have long histories and are deeply involved in the local church/ community. All was set for a beautiful day by the seaside. The sun was blazing all morning and into the afternoon. Having travelled down from Kilkenny to meet Chris and his groomsmen at their home early in the morning it was up the to Brides house for the next few hours. We had spoken a number of times on the phone, I knew exactly what they wanted from me and more importantly what they didn’t want!
Brid had a massive grá for Hook Head lighthouse as almost everyone in this area has. She worked there for many year when she was younger so naturally this was the first choice for our wedding photos. Peter & Mary Waters were filming the video for the day. In fact their son was Chris’s best man. Keep it local! The Church service in Templestown Church was beautiful with magnificent natural light gaping through the stained glass windows.
Getting the drone up was a challenge as the wind in the area is gale force by drone standards at all times. We eventually got on the rod to Hook Head, Chirs & Bríd beaming ear to ear with that just married feeling in the vintage Volkswagen Van. We shot the wedding party inside the lighthouse, and then the magic of the Light House gantry at 115 feet in the air. First the small matter of 115 steps!! Hook Lighthouse is one of the most fascinating examples of medieval architecture in Ireland. The tower stands four stories high with walls up to 4m thick.

I was fully expecting to blown off the balcony once we got to the top but to my surprise it was calm and the early winter sun was slowly dropping behind the horizon. It was magic, Bríd and Chris were so comfortable with myself and Peter Waters. I was was shooting like it was going out of fashion as I tend to do when the content is pure gold. All in all about 10-15 minutes and we were done and dusted. However we couldn’t resist pulling in for a few golden hour shots with the bridal party on route to the Riverside Park Hotel in Enniscorthy.

We managed to sneak out for a quick night time photo session before the Sway Social Wedding band rocked the dance floor well in to the night.
