5 Reasons why Langtons Kilkenny is the Perfect Setting for your Romantic Urban Wedding

1: It’s an ideal central location in the middle of Kilkenny.
For many Langtons Kilkenny is the best wedding venue in Ireland, not to mention it has picked up numerous awards backing this very claim up over the years. Langtons is only a short stroll to and from Kilkenny Castle on foot. Trust me when I tell you this really matters! The bride and groom do not want to be taken away from their guests for hours. I have looped up around the Castle so many times with wedding parties in 45 minutes or less. Why is the central location so important? I feel its ideally located as it offers an urban feel, street photography mingling with the passers by (this is always a great buzz for the couples and they really feed off the positive energy). If the Castle is not your first choice for your photos then a stroll by the Nore is ideal, it offers picturesque greenery and a sort of privacy to get cosy and romantic in public (if thats your thing). The Castle grounds themselves offer so much variety including the world famous Rose Garden. Finally one of my absolute favourites as a photo location in Kilkenny is St Mary’s Lane at The Medieval Mile Museum. I love the harsh contrast of the stone walls and the beauty of the old Church as a back drop (not to mention the cool Wolfwalkers mural) if you like an urban arty feel.
2: It’s a family run business.
In this day and age this is a rare thing. This is a huge factor in why Langtons is so popular among wedding couples, guests and all sorts of visitors to Kilkenny. I have seen it with my own eyes many times, Sean Reid and his wedding team will go above and beyond to make sure every tiny detail is taken care of on the day to make the day a breeze for the bride and groom. One recent example I could give would be when myself, the videographer along with the wedding party got stuck in the middle of a monsoon like rain storm. We got stuck outside and soaking to say the least. Sean could not do enough for the couple and gave them as much time as they needed to get freshened up, in turn everything ran way over time but no issue was made of it and I know from speaking with the couple afterwards it meant a great deal to them.
3: The Set Theatre
Arguably the main reason why Langtons is so popular over the past decade is the one and only Set Theatre. It is a genuine experience to witness a wedding ceremony in the Theatre with the lights dimmed down low and the candles lighting. The set-up for dining and speeches is so romantic although it does tend to cater for the smaller weddings under 82 guests. The larger wedding parties will be seated down in the ballroom. Dancing at The Set is unrivalled for any other wedding venue in Ireland. The stage, sound and lighting make it the perfect setting to dance and party the night away. And finally the staircase for photos is one of my favourites, I like to take the couples here for a quite romantic moment either before the speeches of first dance.
4: Bridies Bar & Beer Garden
Like The Set Theatre, Bridies offers so much Irish charm and cosiness that we all love. Its the ideal location for pre-ceremony drinks or the post-ceremony drinks reception. Get lights dimmed down low and the candles lighting and you have yourself the perfect winter wedding experience. In the summer Bridies Beer Garden is a sight to behold, its laid back atmosphere with the musicians playing makes it the perfect backdrop for any size wedding party.

5: Christmas & Winter Weddings
Well it does’t get much more romantic than Langtons under candle light. Again get lights dimmed down low and the candles lighting. Grab yourself a nice toasty glass of mulled wine and you have yourself the perfect winter wedding experience.
Everything you could need or want on your wedding day is all situated under one roof. If the weather is cold and gloomy then there is not need to leave. Prepping at the hotel in one of the large suites is perfect for the bridal crews. Once you’re ready to go its a short stroll down stairs to the ceremony at The Set Theatre. Post-ceremony drinks in Bridies or the Middle Bar. Family photos indoors or in the walled garden. Is it possible to create a beautiful setting for couple shots at Langtons on a wet day? Absolutely! As previously discussed there are so many options and varieties for every taste and style.
